RAVE-O is an evidence-based Tier II/III intervention used in hundreds of Science of Reading schools. WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT

RAVE-O accelerates. It doesn’t remediate.

Most reading interventions slow down and repeat. RAVE-O accelerates learning by teaching six components at once, because that is how the reading brain works. It prevents and narrows the reading achievement gap, builds fluency and comprehension, and gives struggling readers confidence through strategies that draw on their strengths, from art and music to drama.

THE CORE WORD SYSTEM

Carefully selected words. Used every way, every lesson.

Every lesson is built around a set of Core Words, chosen because they exemplify the grammatical, phonological, semantic, syntactic, and morphological properties of English. Students meet these words at the sound, word, and connected-text level in every session. The same words then appear in Minute Stories and chapter books, so the skills built in the lesson transfer straight to real reading.

30-Minute Lesson Arc

Each lesson is structured with student objectives, steps, and timing recommendations. The teacher guides are fully scripted, so teachers open the guide and teach.

Students receiving RAVE-O instruction outperformed phonics-only comparison groups on decoding, vocabulary, and comprehension, even though the comparison group received twice the phonics time.

No. RAVE-O is a Tier II/III small-group intervention designed to work alongside your core curriculum. It targets students who need more than whole-class instruction, typically those reading one to two years below grade level.
