Evidence-backed, comprehensive approach
The RAVE-O program
RAVE-O's core components work together: phonology, orthography, semantics, syntax, understanding, and morphology, all impemented through a systematic integration with connected text.
Fully scripted daily lessons that build fluency, decoding, vocabulary, and comprehension together.
Built on 20 years of NICHD-funded studies into how the reading brain develops and changes in struggling readers.
Everything a classroom needs: lesson decks, decodable books, workbooks, and assessments.
IMPLEMENTATION
RAVE-O adapts to whomever is teaching or supporting the reader. Explore the path that fits.
Bring RAVE-O to your Tier 2/3 block with training and implementation support.
Work with your reader at home using the same evidence-based method as the classroom.
RAVE-O’s deep vocabulary and semantic work gives multilingual readers a strong foundation.
The science
RAVE-O is the only program that systematically integrates the POSSUM Approach with Deep Reading. RAVE-O goes beyond phonics and phoneme awareness by integrating phonology, orthography, semantics, syntax, understanding, and morphology with connected text in every lesson. In so doing, RAVE-O teaches how the english language works.

RAVE-O saw average effect sizes of .99 (Lovett et al, 2017) across 14 different measures when combined with other structured literacy programs.
Vocabulary gains
Sustained a full year after the intervention ended (Morris et al).
Fluency & comprehension gains
Measured via the Gray Oral Reading Test (Lovett et al).
Findings from NICHD-funded randomized controlled trials.

Parent of a child with dyslexia
RAVE-O is an incredibly innovative intervention program. Through its comprehensive POSSuM approach, RAVE-O provides both effective and fun ways to build the wiring of the reading brain. RAVE-O’s emphasis on the meanings of words (and connections between words) extends vocabulary development in unique ways, enabling countless opportunities for creative expression and deep thinking from Day One of lessons. During my years of private practice teaching this imaginatively designed program was always my favorite to use, offering my students joyful and intellectually engaging learning experiences as they mastered essential reading/writing skills.
